I literally had an entire detailed write-up completed before my PC crashed and to be honest I just don't have the motivation to create it again from scratch. I'll just say that Mailbox Peak is really tough. After a half mile walk to the proper Mailbox Peak trail, it's 4000 feet up in 2.5 miles. By comparison, Mt. Si climbs just 3200 feet in 4 miles. I took me about 2 hours 45 minutes to get to the top from my car and just under 2 hours to get from the top back to my car. My legs and my knees are in serious pain but it was awesome.
This first set of photos is from car to Mailbox Peak trail.
The next set of photos are on the Mailbox Peak trail up to the top of the tree line. Through the forest, essentially. It was muddy as hell and you need to keep an eye out for the diamond trail markers in some places to stay safe.
The next set of photos is the last 500 feet of climbing above the trees. I don't know how the mailbox or the 50 lb weight got there. I got about 20 minutes to myself up there before another couple of guys showed up. One of them was nice enough to take a picture.
The final set of photos is a 360 deg panorama from the top. The first picture is pointing to the north before swinging east, south (McClellan Butte), west (Mt. Si), and then to the north again.
